The Department of Geography Education provides 4-year undergraduate education. Graduates can work as a Geography teacher in public and private institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In addition, General Directorate of Maps and General Directorate of State Meteorological Affairs and so on. aims to train qualified personnel who can work as experts and researchers in institutions. There are 4 professors in our department: 1 professor, 2 associate professors and 1 research assistant. Undergraduate and graduate level education activities continue. Approximately 100 students are studying in our department, which accepts 21 undergraduate students each year. The language of instruction is Turkish and formal education is given.

 

To educate the students of Geography Education Department as individuals equipped in the field knowledge and pedagogical formation fields; to provide education and training at an international level with innovative and universal accumulations of scientific field to date; to analyze and analyze the natural environment conditions, factors and processes and the human and human activities that are affected by this environment and shape the environment under certain conditions, operate the causality principle, mapping and preparing reports with certain methods, and produce solutions by interpreting these processes; to train prospective teachers who can transfer these experiences, professional knowledge and skills to the students as a Geography Teacher within the framework of pedagogical formation methods. In summary, to contribute to the development of natural and cultural environment, interpersonal and social relations that reflect the knowledge and skills acquired in behavior, educating teachers with a unifying and constructive identity and academic staff to put forward with the efforts of research, publication and scientific projects to be carried out with both scientific and social life to be a department that can contribute.

 

Department of Geography Education, life-long learning and self-renewal principle, the natural environment and human activities while examining scientific methods and principles, constructive, solutions to problems, think critically, keeping up with the culture and values ​​of the ideals of the future, communication skills, using communication and educational technologies, establishing interdisciplinary relationships and transferring them to different fields, combining theory and practice, applying international studies in education to the field, following current approaches, strategies, methods and techniques, misuse aware of the natural and cultural texture in terms of sustainable development and informing the environment about the problems that may arise as a result of this, produce additional solutions; The aim of this course is to educate Geography teachers who have civil courage and competence to take responsibility for the development of the country.
