The Department of Science Education offers a four-year undergraduate program. The first- and second-year students are enrolled in a single section, while the third- and fourth-year students are divided into two sections (A and B). The department currently has 13 first-year students, 17 second-year students, 56 third-year students, and 94 fourth-year students, making a total of 180 students enrolled in the daytime undergraduate program. The current student admission quota is 20. The department employs six Professors, two Assistant Professors, and two Research Assistants. Research activities within the department focus on science education, the development of science laboratory instructional materials, the design of teaching and learning activities, multiple intelligences-based instruction, and computer-assisted learning. The curriculum includes subject-specific courses in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth Sciences, and Astronomy, as well as educational courses that provide the pedagogical knowledge and instructional methods necessary for effective and efficient science teaching. Practical components of the subject-area courses are conducted in two fully equipped science laboratories. As part of the Teaching Practice courses, students complete their teaching practicum in secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Graduates of the department are employed as Science Teachers in public and private educational institutions under the Ministry of National Education, as well as in private tutoring and preparatory education centers. In addition, graduates may pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in the Science Education programs offered by the Graduate School of Educational Sciences.
